Summary Report on Status of implementation of the INSPIRE Directive in EU

Description

The INSPIRE Directive sets the minimum conditions for interoperable sharing and exchange of spatial data across Europe as part of a larger European Interoperability Framework and the e-Government Action Plan that contributes to the Digital Single Market Agenda. Article 21 of INSPIRE Directive defines the basic principles for monitoring and reporting. More detailed implementing rules regarding INSPIRE monitoring and reporting have been adopted as COMMISSION DECISION regarding INSPIRE monitoring and reporting on the 5th of June 2009. This summary report combines the findings of the specific country fiches which have been based on: 1) the 2016 tri-annual INSPIRE implementation reports and action plans for future development 2) the 2016 monitoring reports 3) bilateral meetings on the implementation of the INSPIRE Directive between the Commission and most of the Member States. It shows the progress in relation to the INSPIRE mid-term report and the REFIT evaluation which referred to the situation in 2013-14. The monitoring reports submitted by the Member States in May 2017 show further progress in some countries and areas.
