The GeoRSS standard provides for encoding location in an interoperable manner so that applications can request, aggregate, share, and map geographically tag feeds. GeoRSS standardizes the way in which "where" is encoded with enough simplicity and descriptive power to satisfy most needs to describe the location of Web content. GeoRSS is extensible and upwardly-compatible with more sophisticated formats like the OGC Geography Markup Language (GML).
